The target group has organized itself into functioning self-help groups, is trained and its self responsible organizational structure is strengthened
•  Awareness/information programmes in 52 target villages conducted
•  52 Participatory Rural Appraisal and Participatory Needs Assessment exercises carried out and drawn up for all villages
•  50 Village Motivators trained under several topics
•  50 Village Development Committees comprising representatives from existing CBO´s established/reorganized and are functioning
•  50 training sessions on leadership, savings and credits, and group formation conducted
•  52 Participatory Rural Appraisal and Participatory Needs Assessment exercises translated into English for all villages
•  50 Village Motivators trained in psychosocial understanding

The target group uses the agro-potential; the small farmers implement agricultural production with their own means and produce marketable surpluses
•  Paddy inputs and tools for 1.250 families distributed
•  Milking cows for 225 families handed over
•  Promotion of goat farming through providing 280 goats for 70 families
•  2.000 chicks provided for 200 families
•  Home gardens promoted with vegetable seeds for 1.100 families
•  Perennial crops distributed for 1.700 families
•  Training for 1.700 farmers and several farmers organization in agricultural practises
•  1 Local veterinary service equipped with an artificial insemination centre
•  1.750 Agricultural Input packages distributed
•  Inland fishery promoted through the supply of tank fingerlings
•  Training for 2.500 farmers and several farmers organization in agricultural practises for home gardening, paddy cultivation and life stock

Rural infrastructure in the 50 project villages of Vavuniya North and Vavuniya Division is improved and access to the households and market secured
•  Renovation of 50 agro-wells and construction of 10 new agro-wells
•  42 km of agricultural access roads constructed
•  Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society assisted in construction of 1 store building
•  4 Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society (MPCS) outlets constructed for purchasing and selling
•  9 rice mills established for MPCS
2 Community Centres built in villages
•  14 tanks rehabilitated for the recharging of ground water and irrigation
•  35 new agro-wells constructed
•  60 km of agricultural access roads constructed

Knowledge and awareness of the target group about nutrition, health and hygiene is improved
•  A Nutrition Baseline Survey undertaken
•  Up to 2.500 beneficiary families have been reached by conducting street dramas under 2 different topics in 30 villages and 3 schools
•  Specific training schedules under the topics of Health and Nutrition have been conducted
•  1 Coaching camp for students has been conducted in sports and nutrition

The peace and reconciliation process in the project area is supported by specific project measures
•  Two exchange programmes between Tamil and Sinhala farmers conducted
•  Translation of "Do No Harm" handbook in Tamil and Sinhala
•  4 Exchange programme between Tamil and Sinhala farmers have been conducted
•  1 Workshop on peace building and the "Do No Harm" concept has been conducted for all field staff members
•  1 Cultural exchange programme between Sinhala and Tamil people took place
•  1 Program in conflict management tools has been conducted to Sinhala and Tamil CBO functionaries who were affected by the war
