IFSP farmer cultivating the paddy field

The overall development objective of the IFSP-Wanni is to improve the livelihoods of those conflict-affected persons most vulnerable to food insecurity, living in the most war affected area of the Wanni.

IFSP-Wanni aims to secure the preconditions for a peaceful co-existence and to enable the beneficiaries to achieve food security through their own efforts and through sustainable use of existing resources. In this, measures will be implemented which target the satisfaction of beneficiaries short-term basic needs, while adopting a long-term, sustainable development perspective.

Immediate objectives of the IFSP-Wanni are to enable beneficiaries to obtain an adequate standard of living and to maintain their living conditions. Beneficiaries will be able to secure their food by themselves and to contribute to the stabilization of the peace process.

The target group has actively implemented and sustainably improved food security at the household level, whereby favourable framework conditions have been achieved at the project level through targeted support of reconciliation efforts between the previous conflicting parties.

Under the following sub-objectives the IFSP-Wanni aims to improve several factors contributing to food security:
Household food and nutrition security
Rural infrastructure
Capacity of service providers
Self help capacity of target groups
Ongoing peace and reconciliation
